EPDM vs. Viton: Which Material is Right for Your Parts?

1. Different ingredients: EPDM is an ethylene propylene diene rubber, while fluororubber is a fluorocarbon rubber.

2. Different chemical resistance properties: Fluorine rubber has excellent chemical resistance and can withstand many organic solvents, strong acids, and strong alkalis, while EPDM has relatively poor chemical resistance.

3. Different high-temperature resistance: EPDM has relatively good high-temperature resistance and can be used in the range of -40 ℃ to 150 ℃, while fluororubber can be used at higher temperatures, up to 260 ℃.

4. Different mechanical properties: EPDM has a lower elastic modulus but better stretchability, while fluororubber is a high-performance rubber with higher strength and hardness.

5. Different sealing properties: Fluorine rubber is often used to make high-temperature and high-pressure sealing components, such as pipeline joints, valve seals, and other occasions, due to its excellent chemical resistance and high-temperature resistance. EPDM is usually used for low-temperature and low-pressure sealing components, such as automotive seals, water pipes, etc.

6. Different oxidation resistance: Fluorine rubber has extremely strong oxidation resistance and can be used for a long time without adhesion, hardening, cracking, and other phenomena, while EPDM has relatively poor oxidation resistance.

In summary, both EPDM and fluororubber have their own characteristics and applicability, and the specific selection of materials needs to be comprehensively considered based on actual application needs.
